As a teacher, having simple and effective ways to calm down little ones and bring them back into their own bodies is a vital and invaluable tool — and the same goes for parents!
This simple, no cook playdough recipe can be whipped up with simple pantry staples and done in 10 minutes ready for play! Add your essential oils of choice — calming/grounding blends or simple staple lavender are what i recommend! You can even colour with turmeric, beet juice, or blueberries/eucalyptus leaves/avocado seeds steeped in water for some fun natural colours!
Heres how it goes!
INGREDIENTS:
1kg plain flour
1 cup pink/plain salt
1/2 cup Epsom salts
3 cups boiling water
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup Cream of Tartar
Food colouring
Essential Oils
METHOD:
1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
2. Gradually add wet ingredients and stir through until a dough forms. Add additional flour/water if the mixture becomes too wet or too dry.
3. Add 10 drops of food colouring, and continue to add until you reach desired shade.
The mixture can also be split at this point to create two (or more) different colours/scents!
4. Add 10 drops of your essential oil to each half (I like to use doTERRA’s balance and lavender peace blends to promote calm for little ones!).
5. Knead on bench top to spread the essential oils through. Voila! Store in the fridge to extend lifespan.
